Moscow Music Tour

Moscow's history is inextricably linked with that of classical music.  Most of Russia's famous composers either lived in Moscow or spent a great deal of time there - our tours will give you an insight in to how this city played a role in the development of some of the world's finest musical masterpieces.  We visit the birthplace of Tchaikovsky just outside Moscow and several places of interest in the city as you will see from the itinerary below.

Itinerary

Day 1 Flight to Moscow. You are met by our driver and transferred to hotel.  Evening at leisure.
Day 2 Panoramic City Sightseeing tour with your expert guide.  See the main sights of Moscow including Red Square, Bolshoi Theatre and the city viewpoint at Sparrow Hills.  Lunch in a typical Russian Restaurant. After lunch visit  the Kremlin, admire the wonderful architecture and get very close to the heart of Russia.  Evening optional Bolshoi Theatre (see Ballet / Opera section of this website)
Day 3 Full Day (10am-4pm) Klin, birthplace of Tchaikovsky - a 90 minute drive from Moscow. From 1885 onwards Tchaikovsky chose to spend his summers in there and wrote of it in his diary "I can't imagine myself living anywhere else. I find no words to express how much I feel the charm of the Russian countryside, the Russian landscape and the quiet that I need more than anything else." Visitors can see the composer's former residence, deep in the woods just outside the town, which he rented for the few years before his death in 1893. It was here that he composed his famous ballets The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker and his magnificent Fifth and Sixth Symphonies. After his death the composer's brother, Modeste, inherited the house and converted it into a Tchaikovsky Museum, which has remained there ever since.  Evening optional Bolshoi Theatre
Day 4 Morning Glinka Museum of Musical Culture which boasts an impressively large and varied collection of musical instruments from all over the world and original scores, manuscripts and classical music memorabilia based on the original collection of the Moscow Conservatory.  Lunch in central restaurant Afternoon Scriabin Museum charts the life and works of the famous Moscow-born composer, Alexander Scriabin, who spent the last years of his life in this house not far from the city's bohemian Arbat district.
Followed by
Chaliapin House Museum. Fyodor Chaliapin (1873-1938), one of the world's greatest opera singers, lived in this beautifully restored manor house from 1910 to 1922. Evening optional Bolshoi Theatre
Day 5 Breakfast, free time to say your farewells to Moscow and transfer to the airport for your flight home
