Moscow / St.Petersburg / Ekaterinburg 8 nights

If you are interested in the Romanov Imperial Dynasty from Peter the Great to Nicholas II then this is the tour for you. The tour is a triple centre St.Petersburg / Moscow & Ekaterinburg and our tour includes an array of excursions which will give you a fascinating insight in to the lives of Russia's Royal Family - our expert guides will show you round these three magnificent cities describing the lives and loves of the Romanov Dynasty. You will see where the remains of Nicholas II and his family were found near Ekaterinburg and also where they have been reburied after DNA identification (using British Royal Family Blood) in peter and Paul Fortress, St.Petersburg.

The following is only a suggested itinerary - no two educational tours we do are the same so please use the following as an indication only

Your Itinerary:

Day 1     Flight to St.Petersburg. You are met by our driver and transferred by car or minibus to hotel.  First evening is at leisure as flights tend not to arrive before 1600 due to the +3 hour time difference.

Day 2     Panoramic city sightseeing tour including visit to St.Isaac's Cathedral.  Admire the beautiful palace lined boulevards and canals of Europe's most beautiful city. The city is full of unique places with connections to Russia's Royal Family and many of the places you will visit remain virtually unchanged since 1917 - the amazingly atmospheric canals and green spaces - the beautiful Neva River beside Palace Embankment etc  Lunch. Afternoon Pushkin Summer Palace & Gardens - one of Russia's most opulent palaces our trip includes a visit to the famous Amber Room, recently restored to its former beauty.

Day 3    Hermitage tour - probably the greatest museum and art gallery in the world. Unbelievable collection of Monet, Van Gogh, Leonardo Da Vinci, Rembrandt in one of the world's most beautiful palaces. Afternoon Peter and Paul Fortress, the first building of St.Petersburg and burial place of all the Romanov Czars ,built in 1703. Evening to the station for your overnight 1st class two berth sleeper suites to Moscow. Trains leave around midnight and around 0800 in Moscow. An excellent experience - clean and comfy and always on time. Breakfast box is provided on train. 

Day 4     Arrive Moscow - Panoramic City Sightseeing tour with your expert guide. See the main sights of Moscow including Red Square, The Kremlin (from the outside - we save the trip inside to Day 5), Bolshoi Theatre and the city viewpoint at Sparrow Hills. Afternoon free time to explore this magnificent city on your own.

Day 5    The Moscow Kremlin - chance of a lifetime to go inside the Kremlin, admire the wonderful architecture and get very close to the heart of Russia. We also include an excursion to the wonderful treasures of the Kremlin in the Armoury (inside the Kremlin) - here you will see Royal Carriages, clothes including Royal Wedding Dresses, jewels and many hundreds of precious gifts given to the Romanovs during their reign. Lunch included. An awesome experience.

Day 6       Breakfast followed by transfer to Moscow Airport for your 2.5 hour flight to Ekaterinburg. Arrive Ekaterinburg and check in to your hotel.

Day 7   Full day Ekaterinburg City Tour (with a Romanov bias) including the Ipatyev House where the family were imprisoned and murdered followed by a trip along the same road used by their murderers to Ganina’s Pit where the bodies  of the Romanov family were burned and finally to the Romanov Memorial which stands at the mine where their remains were found. Lunch included

Day 8   Europe / Asia Border Excursion - a unique and fascinating trio through beautiful idyllic countryside to the point where two great continents meet - stand with one foot in Europe and one in Asia - a great place to contemplate the history you have taken in during your trip. Return trip is through a very typical Russian Village

Day 9    Breakfast followed by free time and departure to the airport for your flight home from Ekaterinburg via Moscow.
